THE VOCABULARY
Blog: A website containing the writer's or group of writers' own experiences, observations, opinions, etc.,and often having images and links to other Web sites.
Bookmarking: A link to a Web site address saved electronically in a browser to facilitate quick access to the Web page.
Browse: To access (a network) by means of a browser.
Burn: No this does not mean you can set fire to it! This means to write data to a disk.
Comment: The Comments Box is a social plugin on Facebook that enables user commenting on your site.
Copy: To make an exact duplicate of (a file, selected text, etc.).
Download: To transfer (software, data, character sets, etc.) from one computer or technology to another.
Facetime: FaceTime allows you to make video calls on your Apple devices.
Following: You are subscribing to their Tweets as a follower. Their updates will appear in your Home tab.
Friends: The users on Facebook that you share your profile with. You can interact with them through their page, and they can do the same.
Google: To search the Internet for information.
Hashtag: (on social-networking Websites) a word or phrase preceded by a hash mark (#), used within a message to identify a keyword or topic of interest and facilitate a search for it: The hashtag#sandiegofire was used to help coordinate an emergency response to the fire.
iMessage: An instant messenger service developed by Apple Inc. for iOS.
Like: The Like button lets a user share your content with friends on Facebook. When the user clicks the Like button on your site, a story appears in the user's friends' timelines.
Newsfeed: A list of updates on your own Facebook Profile home page. The News Feed will show updates about those people who are in your friend’s list, organizations that you like, as well as advertisements.
Notification: Notifications let you know when people take actions on Facebook related to you, so you can quickly check out a photo you've been tagged in or read a new post on your wall.
Paste: To insert (copied text, images, etc.) into a file.
Pin: A picture posted or pinned on Pinterest.
Podcast: A digital audio or video file or recording, usually part of a themed series, that can be downloaded from a Web site to a media player or computer: Download or subscribe to daily, one-hour podcasts of our radio show.
Social Media: Web sites and other online means of communication that are used by large groups of people to share information and to develop social and professional contacts.
Status: A Facebook status is an update feature which allows users to discuss their thoughts, whereabouts, or important information with their friends.
Streaming: A technology for transferring data so that it can be received and processed in a steady stream: live streaming video.
Sync: Synchronize all of your technological devices so that they all have your data available.
Text: To send a text message via a mobile device.
Timeline: The new Facebook profile. Tell your life story through photos, friendships and personal milestones like graduating or traveling to new places.
Tweet: A very short message posted on the Twitter Website: the message may include text, keywords, mentions of specific users, links to Websites, and links to images or videos on a Website.
Upload: To copy or transfer data from a computer.
URL: An address that identifies a particular file on the Internet, usually consisting of the protocol, as http, followed by the domain name.
Webinar: A seminar or other presentation that takes place on the Internet, allowing participants in different locations to see and hear the presenter, ask questions, and sometimes answer polls.
Widget: An element of a graphical user interface such as a button or scroll bar; also, a module of software for a personalized Web page.
Wiki: A website that allows anyone to add, delete, or revise content by using a web browser.
